Miquel Solà obtained his PhD in 1991 and in 1993 he moved to the University of Girona (UdG). In 1994, he did postdoctoral research in Amsterdam with Prof. Baerends and, in 1995, in Calgary with Prof. Ziegler. In 2001, he got the Distinction for the Promotion of University Research. Since 2003, he is full professor at the UdG. He was awarded with the ICREA Academia Prize in 2009 and 2014. In 2013, he got the Physical Chemistry prize awarded by the Spanish Royal Society of Chemistry. And in 2019, he was recognised as Honorary member of the Polish Chemical Society. He is coauthor of about 450 articles (h = 65) and has supervised 22 doctoral Theses.

The DIMOCAT group (see dimocat.com) is constituted by 24 researchers: 2 full professors, 6 associate professors, 5 post-docs, and 11 PhD students. The DIMOCAT is a consolidated group recognized by the Generalitat de Catalunya (2017SGR29) and a research group of the University of Girona (GRTC090). In the period 2016-20 the group has published about 225 papers (1 Nat. Chem., 8 J. Am. Chem. Soc., 12 Angew. Chem., 12 Chem. Commun., 8 ACS Catal., 2 Org. Lett., 28 Chem. Eur. J., 3 Chem. Sci, 2 WIREs Comput. Mol. Sci., 1 Chem. Rev. among others) that received more than 2700 citations.
